Visiting Hours & Guidelines
Families are considered part of the healthcare team. Visitation encourages healing while maintaining safety for patients, visitors and staff. Policies may be customized based on a patient’s condition.
Adult inpatient units: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (ICU hours may vary).
CVICU, ILCU, MICU, NSICU and SICU visitation: 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. No visitation from 7-10 a.m. or 7-8 p.m.
For surgical procedures, adults are allowed one support person.
For the Emergency Department, two support persons permitted and may switch.
Staff has access to iPads and computer equipment to facilitate remote visitation upon request.
In end-of-life cases, two (2) support persons may visit at any time. Visitors must check in with identification and wear a visitor pass.
General Visitation Guidelines
Masks are optional. Do not visit if you are ill or in quarantine.
Frequent hand hygiene is required.
Visitors must be 12 years of age or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Approved visitors will receive a pass from Information Desk personnel. The visitor will need to verify identity via a valid governmental issued identification card or have their photograph taken and provide information similar to a driver’s license. Visitor passes must be worn prominently at all times.
Visitors should self-screen for contagious diseases before arriving at a Kaleida Health facility and before accessing patient care areas.
If you have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 or have had symptoms of COVID-19 within the past 14 days, please do not visit.
Visitors cannot accompany patients to tests outside of their room.
Parking and Security
Parking
Parking for Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC) is available in the ramp at 854 Ellicott Street (between East North and Goodrich streets).
There is a small lot available for BGMC emergency department patients on North Street at Ellicott Street.
Additional handicap parking is available on High Street across from the Wyndham Garden Buffalo Hotel.
Metered street parking is available.

Valet Service
Visitors can access valet services at the main High Street entrance to the hospital. Valet attendants are available to assist with loading or unloading of items and to help with wheelchairs or any other needs. The cost for valet service is $10 per day. Hours are as follows:
Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Security Escorts
Security personnel are posted throughout Buffalo General Medical Center. For the convenience of patients and visitors, a security officer is happy to provide escort to vehicles. Simply call (716) 859-5442.
