Our Acute Medical Rehabilitation Unit provides hospital-based, intensive therapy to help rebuild strength, restore mobility and regain independence following serious illness, injury or surgery.

Subacute rehabilitation provides transitional, step-down care in a comfortable and supportive setting for patients who no longer need the intensity of an Acute Medical Rehabilitation Unit. This level of care focuses on building strength, improving mobility and preparing patients to return home as safely and independently as possible. It is often appropriate for individuals recovering from orthopedic surgery or injury, stroke or other medical conditions that require continued therapy before discharge. The length of stay is determined by each patient’s medical needs and therapy progress.

Home-based rehabilitation supports patients who need or prefer to receive therapy in their own homes while continuing recovery after hospitalization or managing chronic conditions. Through the Visiting Nursing Association (VNA), patients have access to a comprehensive range of services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, swallowing evaluations and cardiac rehabilitation.
VNA’s experienced rehabilitation clinicians deliver personalized care in the home and coordinate closely with other home health services, including skilled nursing, home health aides, medical social work and nutrition therapy, as needed. Their team offers specialized programs, including falls risk assessment, total joint replacement fast-track recovery, vestibular therapy for dizziness, advanced wound care, low-vision therapy and VitalStim therapy for swallowing disorders.
