In 1980, Massachusetts Congressman Ed Markly designated January 25 as National IV Nurse Day, which was observed for the first time in 1981.

Jenn Meyer, MSN, RN-BC, an experienced nursing informatics leader, will join Kaleida Health as senior director of nursing informatics beginning December 2, 2024. 

The DAISY Nurse Leader Award was established to recognize nurse managers/leaders who engage and motivate nurses, create an environment of trust and compassion, and serve as models of Leading with CARE. Nominations are now open through October 1.

Emily J. Winters, DNP, MS, RN, NPD-BC, NEA-BC, has been named senior director for nursing excellence programs at Kaleida Health.

Cheryl Klass, MBA, BSN, RN, and Vincent Callanan, MD, were awarded the Ozanam Medal for a lifetime of achievements in health care.

Congratulations to Veronica Hoock, critical care nurse in the Cardiovascular ICU at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute (BGMC/GVI), who is a finalist for the first-ever Western New York Healthcare Hero Awards, which will be given out during a special Nurses Night event on October 11. 

Kaleida Health's experts will be featured in a Jacobs Institute event on Wednesday, September 13. The event features presentations by physicians and other members of the clinical team.
