Congratulations to Amanda Lagoda, MSN, RN, CNOR, perioperative clinical nurse educator at Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo (GCH Buffalo), whose poster won first place for the Community Partner Award during the University at Buffalo School of Nursing's 29th Annual Bonnie Bullough Lecture and 13th Annual Research Day. Lagoda's poster was titled, "Utilizing Simulation to Prepare for a Mass Casualty Incident in a Pediatric Perioperative Area."

February 18 is Critical Care Transport Nurses Day. Kaleida Health's Neonatal and Pediatric STAT Transport teams are responsible for transporting and stabilizing critical patients to Golisano Children's Hospital.

In 1980, Massachusetts Congressman Ed Markly designated January 25 as National IV Nurse Day, which was observed for the first time in 1981.

Kaleida Health was one of 20 recipients nationwide awarded an AARP/AACN grant to improve RN recruitment and retention rates and foster healthier work environments.

The DAISY Nurse Leader Award was established to recognize nurse managers/leaders who engage and motivate nurses, create an environment of trust and compassion, and serve as models of Leading with CARE. Nominations are now open through October 1.
