What Is Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery?
At Kaleida Health, many procedures can be performed in an outpatient setting, meaning you return home the very same day. Our ambulatory surgery services combine advanced technology, experienced surgical teams and patient-centered care to deliver high-quality treatment in a comfortable, efficient environment.
Whether your procedure takes place at one of our dedicated surgery centers or within one of our hospitals, you can expect expert care focused on safety, comfort and a smooth recovery.

What to Expect From Your Care
Before Surgery
You receive detailed instructions about medications, fasting and arrival time. Our team reviews your health history and answers any questions so you feel prepared.
The Day of Surgery
You check in, meet your surgical and anesthesia team and receive personalized care in a comfortable setting. Most procedures last just a few hours.
Recovery and Going Home
You recover in a monitored area before being discharged the same day with clear instructions for healing at home. A responsible adult will need to drive you home and stay with you initially.
