The process of getting a hospitalist is simple: As soon as you are admitted, our team will generally assume the overall care duties, or in some cases, maintain a close consultative role with an admitting surgeon or specialist.
Yes, hospitalists provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Because hospitals never close, our hospitalists rotate shifts to ensure that an experienced provider is always available to care for new admissions, emergencies and routine care.
While you will always have access to a hospitalist provider, the specific person you see may change depending on the time or day.
Throughout your hospitalization, your hospitalist also maintains close contact with your primary care provider to keep him or her informed of your status.
Once you're ready for discharge, records from your stay are automatically transmitted to your primary care provider and your hospitalist care team will communicate with the physician(s) who will provide ongoing outpatient care. This ensures seamless, coordinated care.
