Welcome Back Dr. Chen

Frank Chen, MD, PhD, MBA, returns from Quest Diagnostics, to be director of Cytopathology for Kaleida Health Laboratories.

Dr. Chen started his pathology practice in 2006 with the University at Buffalo Pathology department, where he was later promoted to Clinical Associate Professor. In the past 18 years, Dr. Chen has served in a number of leadership roles, including director, Cytopathology of Kaleida Health Laboratories, laboratory director, Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, laboratory director, Medina Hospital and laboratory director for Quest Diagnostics.

Dr. Chen received his medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center in China, his PhD degree from Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York and followed these with post-doctoral research training at Harvard University. He completed his pathology residency at New England Medical Center and Tufts University. Dr. Chen also worked a Cytopathology Fellowship with Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as an Oncologic Pathology Fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In 2012, he obtained his MBA from George Washington University School of Business, and he is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well.

Dr. Chen is also very active in the local pathology community. Serving as president of the Western New York Society of Pathologists from July 2013 to June 2014.

With 18 years of pathology practice and leadership experience, we welcome Dr. Chen and his broad range of expertise in pathology and cytopathology back to Kaleida Health Laboratories.
