Tamara (Tam) Williams is retiring from her job at Kaleida Health Laboratories after 36 years of service.
She began her career at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle in 1988 as a nurse's aide and then took a position in the Pediatric Clinic at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo (WCHOB). Tam later transferred to the Outpatient Blood Draw at 140 Hodge and began working as a phlebotomist. She came to love phlebotomy as well as her patients, their families and her coworkers stating that, "staff have been like family to me, and I will miss them and my supervisors the most."
During her tenure at WCHOB, while working full-time, Tam completed her Associated Degree in Liberal Arts, and then completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Community & Human Services both from Empire State College.
Tam grew up in Buffalo and has been married to her husband Lawrence for 47 years. Together they have three children, a daughter and two sons, all of which have worked for Kaleida Health at one time or another. She also has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In retirement, Tam plans to enjoy spending time with her family, gardening and being active within her Church. She and Lawrence are also planning two trips one to the Bahamas and another to Dubai as well as a cruise with a to be determined destination.
Congratulations Tam on your 36 years of dedicated service to Kaleida Health Laboratories.
