Hello everyone-
In case you missed it, I wanted to follow up with you about the results of the “Learning and Engagement Climate Assessment Survey” conducted on behalf of the VNA back in June of this year.
The purpose of this survey was to gain your input about what is working well at the VNA, where we can improve and to gain any other feedback that we can use to create a better work environment for everyone at the VNA.
The survey itself consisted of twelve questions with each allowing an opportunity to provide comments. The response rate was about 15% of our workforce or 140 people. Many of you also provided comments related to specific questions, which the Kaleida Health Learning and Engagement Team has compiled into common themes. These themes may be able to serve as the basis for some of our workgroups. These themes include:
- Communication
- Scheduling and travel time for clinicians
- Staffing
- Relationships between managers and employees
- Comradery within teams but lack of trust between teams
- Employees feeling that management does not actually listen
- Accountability for accurate and timely documentation completion
- A sense of pride that our patients are receiving excellent care from dedicated staff
Our next steps will include listening sessions and the formation of multidisciplinary work groups from various departments, teams and branches to focus on the opportunities identified.
Over the next few weeks and months, we will be looking for your input and participation in the various work groups and action plans. I invite your continued feedback at any point through email, a phone call (716-630-8710) or by stopping by my office with suggestions on work groups, communication, or any other ideas you may have about how to improve the work environment at the VNA. We value your input and we are open to suggestions on improving all that we do.
As we work together on these action plans I know that we can make the VNA an even better place to work. To that end, I want to thank you again for taking the time to complete the climate assessment survey and for your open and honest feedback. I truly believe that in order for us to continue to grow and improve as a management team that we must listen more, communicate better and commit to continuous improvement
Please enjoy these final days of August before it is time to send the children back to school!
Thank you all for the amazing work you do in caring for our patients every day. The work that you do makes a tremendous difference in people’s lives.
Lisa
