Practice Gratitude to
Support Mental Health

Gratitude is the intentional act of noticing and appreciating the good in your life, big or small. It could be a kind word from a friend, a quiet moment, your morning coffee or making it through a tough day.

Why Gratitude Supports Mental Wellness

  • Boosts mood by shifting attention away from stress
  • Improves sleep & emotional balance
  • Builds resilience by reminding you of what is working in your life
  • Strengthens relationships when shared with others

Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude

  • Gratitude journal: Write down 1-3 things you are thankful for each day.
  • Mental check-in: Ask yourself, “What’s one good thing that happened today?”
  • Gratitude walk: As you walk, name things you see or feel that you appreciate
  • Thank someone: Send a quick message to someone who made your day better
  • Grateful breathing:
      1. Inhale & silently say “Thank you.”
      2. Exhale and release stress
