Patient Access Week 2026

Be sure to thank our Patient Access teams for their hard work and dedication to serving our patients during Patient Access Week.

Empowering Tomorrow, Reaching New Heights

Kaleida Health’s Patient Access staffers at admissions, registration and the pre-arrival call center are often the first point of contact for patients and visitors entering the Kaleida Health system, and those first impressions are important.

It’s their responsibility to greet and register patients for all services provided in the hospitals, from ED visits to outpatient services, from labor and delivery to direct admits, to inpatient and ambulatory surgery cases. In addition to having excellent people skills, the staff need to be familiar with the policies, procedures and guidelines of the various insurance companies in order to ensure proper billing and collection of co-payments. The team succeeded in their goal of increasing point-of-serve collections from 2023-2024.

Our patient access teams work very hard each and every day to ensure our patients and families are provided the best customer service. They make sure to listen to patients and visitors and answer any questions they may have, without causing delay to their care. They are also one of the first people nursing staff will reach out to help with system issues.

Patient Access Week was established in 1982 to celebrate the contributions of people in the Patient Access profession. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), a national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence within the field.

Please join us in thanking our Patient Access team for their friendly service to our patients and their families each and every day.
