OLEAN — Olean General Hospital received toy donations from the Cattaraugus County Town Highway Superintendents Association, with delivery just in time for Christmas.
The donation from the association, or CCTHSA, included a variety of toys, games and stuffed animals to OGH’s emergency and pediatric departments. The program started close to 30 years ago, initially providing donations to only social services, but has grown over the years and the CCTHSA is able to donate to multiple organizations.
“Improving a child’s emotional wellbeing is just as important as addressing their physical need,” said Tenisha Murphy, director of nursing at OGH. “Being able to give a toy to a sick child brings a little joy to the child’s hospital visit, so the (CCTHSA’s) support is very much appreciated.”
