BRADFORD, Pa. — Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, awarded Julia Jackson, a licensed practical nurse at Bradford Regional Medical Center, the 2024 third-quarter recipient of the Nightingale Award.
Jackson, who works in the acute care unit, has been at BRMC since 1979.
“Julia is an extremely competent nurse and co-worker,” her nomination states. “Julia keeps the unit running smoothly with her ability to multitask and balance multiple duties at one time. Julia stays informed on patients’ conditions and needs to be able to relay the information to all medical providers.
“She is always compassionate and kind to her co-workers and patients. Julia’s knowledge and years of service is a tremendous asset to BRMC.”
The Nightingale Award is a result of nominations from medical providers and other team members throughout BRMC and OGH, Kaleida Health facilities.
Jackson said of her career, “I decided to become a nurse after working at BRMC as an aide. After graduating from Jamestown School of Practical Nursing, I began my career here at BRMC.”
Jackson, born and raised in Bradford, is a 45-year veteran of nursing. She has worked in many areas of BRMC, including pediatrics, med-surg, telemetry, same day surgery, maternity and healthy beginnings prior to working on the acute care unit.
“What I enjoy most about being a nurse is taking care of my patients and their families,” she said. “Seeing the children and grandchildren of pediatric patients I took care of when I first started my nursing career is so gratifying. That is the benefit of a small community, you get very familiar with the people you serve.”
Other nominees for the third quarter were registered nurses Josh Clayson, Autumn Freer, Brook Lipps, Jade Maybee, Tara Plath, Beth Price, Cindy Simms, Kristyn Wilber, Meagan Winer and Steven Wolfe.
