New VP Selected for Kaleida Health Laboratories

Kaleida Health Laboratories today announced the hiring of Arnulfo Delgado as the new vice president of laboratory services. Delgado succeeds Keith Hoerth, who officially left Kaleida Health in April while staying on in an advisory role during the national search for his replacement. Delgado’s first day on the job is September 12, 2022.

An accomplished expert in laboratory science and healthcare administration, Delgado served most recently as senior administrative director of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare in Salinas, CA. His prior roles include: executive director of the system laboratory for Cone Health in Greensboro, NC; director of laboratory services for Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA; administrative director of pathology and laboratory medicine for Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles; and director of diagnostic laboratories at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

He’s no stranger to upstate New York, however, having served as vice president of operations for ACM Global Laboratories in Rochester from 2017 to 2019. Delgado began his career as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist and ultimately manager of laboratory services at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Arizona State University and a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

“Arnulfo is a strong addition to our leadership team,” said Judy Baumgartner, president of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital/DeGraff Medical Park who also oversees Kaleida Health Laboratories. “With his extensive background in the field at some of the premier healthcare systems in the nation we’re anticipating even greater things to come for Kaleida Health Labs.”

John Tomaszewski, MD, clinical chief of service for Kaleida Health Laboratories, added, “This is a challenging time for our hospital system and the Labs, but with new facilities, new equipment, new talent and a renewed dedication to continuing quality improvements and patient satisfaction, we are well-positioned for even more success in this market.”

“I’m excited to join the talented laboratorians and leaders of Kaleida Health,” said Delgado. “Together we will continue to optimize and expand services, and meet the continuing challenges of this ongoing pandemic.” Delgado's family recently joined up with him in Buffalo and, he said, “We are looking forward to our new home and new adventures in Western New York."

Please join us in welcoming him to Kaleida Health Laboratories.
