New C-level execs named at Kaleida Health, Catholic Health and Erie County Medical Center

ECMC names new chief medical officer

Erie County Medical Center Corp. has promoted Dr. Samuel Cloud to chief medical officer.

Cloud, an emergency medicine physician, most recently served as associated medical director and is past president of the ECMC medical dental staff. He is also an assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine at the University at Buffalo.

He succeeds Dr. Brian Murray, who left ECMC to become interim chairman of the department of medicine at the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at UB.

ECMC is the region’s largest hospital, with 573 beds and revenue of $703 million in 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available.

Kaleida Health names chief quality and patient safety officer

Kaleida Health has promoted Christopher Moden to chief quality and patient safety officer at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute.

Moden, a registered nurse, spent the last two years as senior director of clinical operations. He joined Kaleida in 2005 as nurse manager of the emergency department at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, then shifted over to Buff Gen and the GVI in 2018.

Buffalo General is Kaleida’s largest hospital, with 484 beds and 2,900 employees.

Moden takes over for Barbara Kuppel, who was promoted to vice president and chief nursing officer for Buffalo General and the GVI in December. She has been with Kaleida for more than 30 years.

Catholic Health names new VP of patient care services/chief nursing officer

Catholic Health has named Diane Lobdell as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Sisters Hospital. She was named as interim VP and CNO several months ago.

With revenue of $364 million, Sisters has a main campus on Main Street in Buffalo and a secondary campus in Cheektowaga, the St. Joseph campus.

Lobdell, who joined Sisters in 2019 as director of nursing for medical-surgical services, brings 25 years’ nursing leadership experience, including leadership positions with Rochester Regional Health and locally with Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

She takes over for Jessica Visser, who has shifted to the same position at Mercy Hospital late last year.
