National Nutrition Month

Nutrition is a thread that runs through all the work we do at Kaleida Health because we know that maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is a critical way to prevent disease and promote good health.

It's Time to Celebrate Nutrition

Nutritious diets play a key role in helping individuals stay healthy throughout their lives. However, millions of Americans face hurdles when it comes to accessing healthy food — and far too many are at risk of experiencing diet-related diseases. To address this issue of growing concern, the Biden-Harris Administration announced a goal to end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.

During National Nutrition Month, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is focusing on sustainable and healthy eating habits. This year’s theme is “Beyond the Table”, which highlights the farm-to-fork approach to nutrition, from food production to eating habits.

The Food and Nutrition Services department at Kaleida Health provides personalized nutrition education and counseling. Our registered dietitians teach people the skills they need to manage their nutrition care wisely.

Nutrition counseling can help lower a patient's chances for developing health problems by adopting a healthy lifestyle and improving diet to reduce the risk factors that lead to illness.
