Matt Roskwitalski Retires

Matt Roskwitalski, laboratory staff member, Oishei Children’s Hospital, is retiring after a dedicated career spanning multiple Kaleida Health laboratories.

Matt began his career at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital in the Essential Services Laboratory in November 28, 1988. Following the closure of Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital, he transitioned to Buffalo General Medical Center’s laboratory, and when that closed, he moved to Oishei Children’s Hospital, where he has been an invaluable team member.

Known as the "MacGyver" of the Lab, Matt has a passion for troubleshooting and problem-solving, always finding innovative ways to improve workflow. His extensive knowledge has made him a trusted resource and preceptor for new employees.

Beyond the lab, Matt has dedicated many years to Highland Hose Volunteer Fire Department in Derby, NY, serving as a first responder, including during the 9/11 World Trade Center attack. His commitment to helping others extends to his role as an SEIU union representative, where he has been actively involved for many years with CWA.

Matt is a devoted grandfather, having raised three grandchildren while continuing to support his growing family. He enjoys camping, visiting Splash Lagoon, traveling to Las Vegas and taking cruises with his girlfriend, Lisa. A skilled craftsman, he spends his time on woodworking, home repairs and maintaining his koi pond. He also enjoys tending to his apple trees, and splitting and stacking wood for burning at home.

Following the recent passing of his father, Matt has been a dedicated caregiver to his mother, assisting her with daily tasks, home maintenance and doctor’s visits.

We thank Matt for his 36 years of dedication to patient care, his colleagues and his community. Congratulations, Matt, and best wishes for your retirement!
