Pamela Doerflein retired on September 22, after 43 years of dedicated service. She began her career in 1980 as a rotation student in the Medical Technology Program at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital, where she worked with the IV Team drawing blood during morning rounds. During this time, she also worked with the STAT Laboratory at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital on weekends.
After graduating, she continued there. Pam then changed course, and began to work in the Immunology Laboratory at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. There, she gained a wealth of knowledge and technical skill in immunology which allowed her to provide excellent results and analysis. This laboratory moved into what is now the Kaleida Health Center for Laboratory Medicine on Flint Road, and Pam moved with it.
In 2006, Pam made another career change, taking a position as a clinical services representative in Client Services. She became responsible for managing and retaining nursing home accounts; facilitating the start-up of the 5 McGuire Nursing Homes services during their transition from Catholic Health Systems to Kaleida Health Laboratories. During this time, she was often recognized by patients and clients for her sympathy and willingness to help.
She began working with the Microbiology Laboratory in 2012, and continued to work with them until her recent retirement.
Pam and her husband Bob enjoy riding their new bikes and going out for dinner with family and friends. She has a son who lives locally, and a daughter who lives in North Carolina. Pam also loves to travel to North Carolina to spend time with her daughter and two beautiful granddaughters. She and Bob are building a new home in North Carolina to be near them, and are scheduled to move in this November.
Congratulations Pam on your 43 years of dedicated service to Kaleida Health Laboratories.
