Lorie Mariano, MS, RT (R) (CT) (CI) has been named vice president of imaging services for Kaleida Health.
In her new role, Mariano will oversee the imaging strategy and operations of all Kaleida Health locations and its associated ambulatory centers. Responsible for integrating the strategic plan and annual goals of the health system into imaging operations, she will ensure highly efficient and high quality clinical and non-clinical imaging programs. Her system-wide leadership role will focus on operational alignment and consistency. As a member of the senior leadership team and reporting to Judy Baumgartner, president of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and DeGraff Medical Park, Mariano will collaborate with physicians, administrative leaders and our talented imaging staff to advance strategic initiatives, operational improvements, efficient and effective resource utilization and allocation and will further our mission to advance the health of our community.
Mariano most recently served as vice president of hospital operations, primarily focused on the Gates Vascular Institute (GVI). An employee of Kaleida Health since 1996, Mariano previously served as senior director of cardiovascular and imaging services.
“I have mixed emotions as I transition away from the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the GVI. I was at the table for the original planning, building, operationalizing and implementing the great programs and services now offered,” said Mariano. “The GVI will always hold a special place in my heart. That being said, I look forward to using what I’ve learned at the GVI and creating a system structure for all imaging sites and management teams.”
“Imaging touches so many of our patients throughout the organization. Having Lorie’s attention focused on a more effective, consistent and collaborative approach to imaging will ensure our patients receive the best care and our staff benefits from a great work environment,” added Cheryl Klass, RN, chief operating officer for Kaleida Health.
Mariano received her M.S. in Executive Leadership and Change from Daemen University and her B.S. in Radiologic Technology from Empire State College.
Mariano’s responsibilities as vice president of hospital operations will be led by Beth Hughes, president of Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, until a permanent chief operating officer is named for the hospital.
