Congratulations to Stacey Roach, speech language pathologist, who was recently recognized for leading with CARE. Recipients of the Leading with CARE award exemplify Kaleida Health values in their daily work, and go above and beyond for their patients, families and coworkers.
A coworker nominated Stacy for this award, saying:
Stacey Roach spearheaded a clothing drive in her neighborhood, collected 10 garbage bags worth of clothing donations, and used her own personal time and resources to organize, label and stock the clothing closet on 12N. Her concern was that patients would not be allowed visitation and felt a need to be sure our Rehab patients and their families had a sense of ease that some of the patients' basic needs would be met. I applaud Stacey’s intuitive thought process and her efforts to stay ahead of patient care, providing compassion and recognizing the stress our patients and their families feel with visitation restrictions. In lieu of letting an overwhelming situation prevail, Stacey was able to be proactive and positive. This behavior doesn’t surprise me after working closely with her all of these years. When I inquired if any of the Rehab staff knew she did this, Stacey’s response was, “I didn’t do it for recognition, I did it so the patients and their families could feel OK and I could do something helpful and stay positive.” This is a mindset we should all uphold.
Kudos, Stacey, and thank you for leading with CARE!
