Leading with CARE Award Presented to Cortney Craig and Katie Olson

Congratulations to Cortney Craig, telemetry RN and Katie Olson, assistant manager on the 14th floor at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, who were recently recognized for leading with CARE. Recipients of the Leading with CARE award exemplify Kaleida Health values in their daily work, and go above and beyond for their patients, families and coworkers.

Cortney and Katie were nominated by a coworker who shared the following:

When a travel nurse was having difficulty obtaining proper access, Cortney jumped in and called IT/Pharmacy in an effort to help. With no luck, Cortney then notified Katie right away. As the traveler waited to get access, Cortney helped feed and pass meds on some of the traveler’s patients, in addition to having her own assignment and an orient. When the traveler finally achieved access, Cortney stopped what she was doing to update the traveler on what she was able to accomplish and where to start. Katie got the help needed to get this issue escalated properly and resolved. Cortney stepped in to make sure there was no delay in patient care, was a resource for the traveler, and a preceptor to her orient.

Kudos, Cortney and Katie, and thank you for leading with CARE!
