Congratulations to Andrea Gilmour in food services at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute who was recently recognized for leading with CARE. Recipients of the Leading with CARE award exemplify Kaleida Health values in their daily work, and go above and beyond for their patients, families and coworkers.
A coworker nominated Andrea for this award, saying:
I contacted dietary at 7:30 p.m. I was well aware the kitchen had been closed for hours but I was pleading for a tray for a patient who missed out on all of his meals because he was NPO for a procedure. He was very upset and hungry, of course, and completely uninterested in what our small galley kitchen had to offer. Even though there was nothing hot left to eat, Andrea said she would do her best. A few minutes later, Andrea hand-delivered a tray filled with cold food for my patient. I was so impressed with the spread and her dedication to serving our patients even after hours.
It's not often that night shifters get to see dietary staff. She was so nice and personable and truly understood the cause. I'm happy we have someone like Andrea around to have our patients' backs when they're in need.
