Congratulations to Martha Maloney, senior clinical laboratory scientist, for being selected 2024 Employee of the Year at Kaleida Health Laboratories.
Martha has been a dedicated employee for 35 years. She is our senior clinical laboratory scientist at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital (MFSH) Essential Services Laboratory. In her role, she not only makes sure the lab meets all regulatory requirements, but also plays a huge role in controlling inventory. When lot changes for multiple reagents or quality control materials are needed, Martha makes the needed changes.
Besides inventory, Martha also makes sure the machines needed to test samples are in good working order. If a machine is down, Martha is usually the first one troubleshooting, with or without the help of customer service, and often volunteers to stay late to finish the job. This contributes to accurate testing results for our patients, and Martha does this with an amazing attitude.
Martha also makes everyone feel welcome in the lab and is truly a massive part of our success. She trains new hires and continues to coach them once they begin working on shifts. In return, the new hires love learning from her, describing her as patient and supportive. Her coworkers describe her as helpful, 
energetic, friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to make the lab a better place. Martha is also well respected throughout MFSH, and has been commended by employees and management outside of the lab as well.
