According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), breast cancer is the most common cancer in women after certain types of skin cancer. For anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer or has a loved one who was, the diagnosis can be devastating.
You can make a direct impact on groundbreaking breast cancer research and patient services by participating in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The event will be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, October 14 at Wilkeson Pointe Park, 225 Fuhrmann Boulevard in Buffalo.
There are three major ways to participate in the Walk:
- Join the Great Lakes Cancer Care Collaborative (GLCCC) team
- Donate to the GLCCC team
- Create a team of your own to raise funds
While this particular walk raises funds that support breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, the American Cancer Society has been very supportive of our efforts to provide access to care to our patients in the community through grants and other services as well as helping with valuable resources about cancer prevention and screenings.
