Introducing the “Micro-Pause”
A Mindful Reset Tool

Why it Matters: 

  • The start of the year often brings high expectations and packed schedules. While resolutions and goals can be motivating, they can also leave us feeling overwhelmed if we don’t intentionally slow down.
  • Practicing short, mindful pauses throughout your day can help regulate your nervous system, reduce anxiety, & improve focus — making you more resilient and present. 

Practice: 

The “Micro-Pause” technique is a 1-minute grounding ritual you can do anywhere: 

    • Stop whatever you’re doing. 
    • Close your eyes or soften your gaze. 
    • Take three deep, slow breaths — inhale through the nose, exhale through the mouth. 
    • On the third exhale, ask yourself: 
        • “What do I need right now?” 
        • “What am I grateful for in this moment?” 
    • Open your eyes and gently return to what you were doing.  

How to Implement:

  • Start by setting two reminders per day: 
      • one mid-morning 
      • one mid-afternoon 
  • You can use your phone, calendar, or even sticky notes to prompt you. 
  • Over time, these pauses become internal cues you naturally take — especially during stress.
