We have in place strict infection control precautions and protocols established by the CDC, CMS and the state and local health departments to protect residents, associates and visitors. Residents with positive tests are being isolated in a designated unit and treated in accordance with guidance from the CDC. Residents who do not have symptoms related to COVID-19 are treated in a separate part of the building.

Any staff member who tests positive is required to adhere to established infection control protocols with guidance from the CDC and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and will remain off work until cleared. It is also important to know that our staff follow safety protocols.

We continue to closely monitor all residents and caregivers as part of our surveillance program. Our team continues to follow CDC, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and NYSDOH guidance to monitor and ensure the best possible care for all our residents in order to reduce exposure to COVID-19. Based on their guidance, we have been proactively implementing precautions that reduce risk of exposure to others. For example:

  • We follow visitation restrictions at the direction of the CDC and NYSDOH designed to protect our residents, associates and families;
  • We have implemented comprehensive screening of all who enter our community and have applied the core principles of infection control;
  • We are requiring all associates, clinical staff, vendors, and visitors to wear a facemask;
  • We are regularly conducting stringent deep cleaning.

We follow these practices to reduce the potential for exposure to COVID-19 while a resident receives care unrelated to the disease.

Given the information and training provided by the CDC, CMS and the NYSDOH, our associates are well prepared to respond to each positive case of COVID. Our care team immediately acts and appropriately treats these residents from the very beginning, strictly limiting contact and any potential exposure.

Should you have any questions, suggestions or concerns, please contact me at jphart@kaleidahealth.org.  As always, thank you for trusting us to care for your loved one.

Regards,

Jonathan Hart

Vice President of Long Term Care
