Health Unit Coordinator Week

This week is Health Unit Coordinator Week!

Over time, the health unit coordinator role has been referred to as the unit secretary, unit clerk, service specialist, information coordinator, etc.

Today, the health unit coordinator is a professional healthcare worker who performs the non-clinical functions of the nursing unit or department.

They serve as the hub of activity in critical care units, emergency departments, inpatient units and outpatient services. They are highly organized people who aid in customer service, management of physician orders and coordination of the health unit. They ensure that the needs of patients, families, visitors and staff are attended to in a timely and professional manner.

August 23-29 is the annual week to celebrate, honor, and thank our health unit coordinators.

Thank you to Kaleida Health's unit secretaries, coordinators and clerks for everything you do for our patients, visitors and healthcare teams!
