GCH Buffalo 2025 Employee of the Year: Jessica Schulz

Join us in celebrating Jessica Schulz, obstetrics nurse extraordinaire, who has been named GCH Buffalo’s 2025 Employee of the Year!

On the labor and delivery unit, Jessica demonstrates leading with CARE through her clinical expertise, calm leadership and compassionate, family-centered approach. On every shift, she is known for advocating tirelessly for the best care for her patients.

Recently, Jessica acted quickly when a mother arrived in triage, actively delivering a 24-week premature baby. She supported the family, stimulated the newborn and ensured the micro-preemie received critical care before transfer to the NICU. Her rapid response stabilized the patient and comforted the family.

“Jessica consistently demonstrates exceptional clinical skill, compassion and dedication to both her patients and colleagues,” said her manager. “She remains calm under pressure, anticipates her patients’ needs and works seamlessly with the interdisciplinary team. She is a trusted mentor and a valued team player.”

Her peers echo this praise. “Jessica is always stepping up and putting patients and her team first,” said a coworker. “Even in the most challenging situations, she focuses on how we can improve and be ready next time. She embodies what it means to be a teammate and a leader.”

Jessica also serves as a mentor and preceptor, supports interdisciplinary collaboration and advocates for continuous improvement in obstetric emergency preparedness. She embodies GCH Buffalo’s CARE values: centered on patients and families, accountable to colleagues, respectful and committed to excellence.

Her dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on patients, families and colleagues. Jessica is a well-deserved recipient of GCH Buffalo's 2025 Employee of the Year award.
