Environmental Services Week is a time to show appreciation for the dedicated EVS personnel who ensure healthcare facilities are clean, safe places for patients, their families and other staff members. With all the challenges and changes the last few years have brought, our EVS department has remained resilient in their efforts to protect others from dangerous pathogens.
EVS professionals protect patients and save lives by reducing the environment as a source of infections.

National Healthcare Environmental Services Week honors the men and women who ensure safe, comfortable and clean facilities all year long.
These dedicated employees provide outstanding services. Their knowledge and skill not only keep medical facilities running smoothly, but they help support positive patient outcomes.
Kaleida Health's Environmental Services Department is responsible for:
- Providing a clean, disinfected and safe environment for all our patients, visitors and staff
- Daily cleaning of all patient rooms, operating rooms, waiting rooms, procedural areas, offices, laboratories, restrooms and ancillary areas
- Housekeeping, waste management, laundry management and a wide variety of cleaning tasks
- Quality inspections to drive continuous improvement in processes and methods
- Ordering and maintaining a stock of janitorial supplies to serve the institution
- Collaborating with nursing, human resources, plant operations, laundry plant operations and administration, in addition to many other hospital departments, to meet the needs of our patients and the hospitals
EVS works hard to break the chain of infection and promote clean, healthy surfaces, laundry and workspaces for us all. You can help by keeping your area tidy, not throwing things on the floor, utilizing proper regulated medical waste procedures and disposing of trash in the trash holders and linen in the linen holders.
