Congratulations to Emmanuel (Manny) Lewis, RN, for being selected 2023 Employee of the Year at the Visiting Nursing Association (VNA) of WNY.
Manny is an excellent worker who goes above and beyond for his patients every day to deliver excellent care. On top of case managing one of the busiest and most challenging caseloads, Manny frequently picks up must see visits that would otherwise have to go to evenings or be put on call. This means often picking up the patients he manages, and frequently seeing patients who have needs regardless of where they live or who their case manager is. Manny is truly a team player.
He is also patient, calm, flexible, always pleasant, always positive, always willing to assist and is an extremely strong clinician. In other words, he has all the qualities we hope to find in a great homecare clinician. Always willing to assist his colleagues, including IV team nurses at any stage of their career who need guidance regarding complicated patients or situations, he is universally liked and respected by patients and colleagues alike. Manny is a huge asset to the team, the VNA of WNY and Kaleida Health in general.
In addition, Manny has precepted many new nurses as well as participating in education and quality initiatives. He led the change over to our new Midline Kits by lending his expertise in direct patient care to make sure various scenarios were considered when changing products.
Manny is a married father of four children, two of whom have followed him into healthcare careers. He is an avid Bills fan, is very active with his church and teaches bible classes.
