Dr. Jessica Canallatos: Patient Turned Provider

Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) is proud to recognize July as National Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month! The Laurence C. Wright Craniofacial Center at OCH is nationally-recognized as an Approved Team by the American Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association (ASPA). Specializing in facial reconstruction, airway obstruction management and cleft lips and palates, the Center is fully-equipped with the latest technology and a dedicated team of staff ready to evaluate and treat the hundreds of kids and babies they see every year.

To celebrate National Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month, we’d like to introduce you to one of those passionate team members: Jessica Canallatos, DDS, MS.

Dr. Canallatos' pivotal moment came when a prosthodontist restored her missing teeth with dental implants and crowns, significantly boosting her confidence. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in prosthodontics, focusing specifically on helping cleft lip and palate patients complete their journeys by replacing missing teeth.

Raised in Grand Island and educated at Nardin Academy, Dr. Canallatos credits her supportive upbringing for fostering her ambitions. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo, followed by a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2014. She then completed a Prosthodontics Residency and earned a Master of Science from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2017.

Driven by a vision to elevate the Craniofacial Center to a premier center of excellence, Dr. Canallatos aims to expand the clinic's capacity in oral rehabilitation. Her connection to the clinic's mission and determination to make a difference make her an invaluable team member.

Welcome, Dr. Canallatos, and
Happy Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month!
