Deb Sciandra Presented with DAISY Award

Congratulations to Deb Sciandra, a critical care nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and a 38-year veteran of Oishei Children's Hospital, on receiving a DAISY award.

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. DAISY Award honorees personify Kaleida Health’s remarkable patient experience. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence and are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community.

Deb was nominated by her colleagues for her hard work, dedication and knowledge. One colleague said:

Working along with Deb over 30 years, I have witnessed time and time again the outstanding job she displays every day she works. As PICU charge, she goes out of her way to keep on top of each patient's status to ensure care will not be compromised... Deb is one of the most intelligent nurses I know, always staying on top of the latest technology, education and developments from around the country and the world. Patients and their families appreciate her expertise, attention to detail, and efficiency at the bedside... Deb is the best role model and mentor for new nurses entering the field.

Deb dedicated her DAISY award to her colleagues, saying she can’t take credit because she can’t do her job without all of them.

For always advocating for her patients, supporting her colleagues, and because she truly demonstrates what it means to lead with CARE, we are pleased to award Deb this DAISY Award.
