Over the past year VNA has had several issues regarding our fax lines that feed our intake department. This included failed faxes, incomplete transmission of documents and complete fax line failure at one point. The reason this is so important to us is that this is the way we receive referrals for care, physician orders and other documents necessary to care for our patients. Even a short downtime in our fax lines is a critical patient care issue that can cause delays in patient care. This also impacts our ability to receive lab work and physician orders which again is a critical patient care concern.
Mike has taken the time to diagnose and come up with solutions to dramatically mitigate this issue for us. He spent time on site with us during a major transition to make sure he was immediately available should any issues arise. He has continued to be responsive to any on-going concerns when the arise.
Most recently we discovered that our advertised phone number (VNA-HOME) somehow had been de-activated and when called, did not route to VNA. This is the number that we advertise on our vans, marketing materials, website – you name it – everywhere. Mike spent a great deal of time and effort over the past week to investigate, work with various vendors and others to find out what happened and to get the number restored. As of today, the number is now back in service!
Mike kept us informed of where he was in the process, any barriers and successes as he worked through the problem. He has come on site to make sure we had direct support from him and has always been respectful of our needs. He clearly fits the criteria: centered around our patients, accountable to each other, respect and integrity and excellence. I can't thank Mike enough for all that he has done and continues to do for the VNA.
