Jim knew how important the project was to the women in our community and their loved ones, and he chose to never give up
The Kaleida Health mammography truck was scheduled to be on location for two weeks, and patients were queuing up for a potentially life-saving scan. Only problem: there was no dedicated Internet signal in the supermarket parking lot where the rig was set up, and that meant no images could be sent back to Kaleida Health for evaluation. Spectrum couldn't get a connection. Verizon couldn't get a connection. Then, Kaleida Health Network Engineer Jim Roth stepped in to help.
From his nomination:
Jim was thoroughly dedicated to making sure the mammography truck was going to work. It really came down to him applying a little pressure (pleading!) to supermarket management to work out a deal so they could get Internet to the truck without compromising the security posture of either organization. Within a couple of days, Internet was provided.
Later, he was asked to test run the truck at BGMC, at the last minute. Jim was glad to help by running a very long cable to the truck from within BGMC to get Internet, working to establish network connectivity within the truck and staying late to make sure testing of the equipment worked.
Without Jim Roth and his dedication to getting the Internet to the mammography truck in a remote area, the benefit to the community that this truck provided for two weeks would not have happened. Jim knew how important this mammography truck was to the community, and the lives of many women, and chose to never give up.
Thank you, Jim, for your commitment to always leading with CARE!
