Congratulations to Heidi Hughes, senior clinical lab scientist, on her retirement and career with Kaleida Health Laboratories.
Heidi first came to Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital for her internship in the School of Medical Technology after completing her coursework at Canisius College. Heidi started at Gates in 1983.
Since her graduation, Heidi has worked as a clinical laboratory scientist in many different departments including the Gates Circle and Suburban Stat Labs, Gates Chemistry and Automated Chemistry Labs, Flint Chemistry, Reference Send out sections at the Flint Road Production Lab and most recently as a senior clinical lab scientist.
Heidi has been a very conscientious and patient-care focused employee. Her co-workers respect and applaud her for her thoroughness as she has been known to solve challenging problems that others may have already given up on. In retirement, Heidi will enjoy traveling both domestically and internationally while she catches up with her 4 children and their families who live in different areas of the country. She and her husband will also travel to their vacation home in Florida to escape the WNY winters.
