Congratulations to Andrew Walters, medical technician, on his retirement and career with Kaleida Health Laboratories.
Andrew (Andy) Walters began working in the Processing Department at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital on August 13, 1990. Later on, he transitioned over to the new Lab Processing Department at the Center for Laboratory Medicine when it opened. Andy saw an opportunity to open up on the second shift in the Automated Chemistry Department and took a position there in 1991.
Andy has worked in chemistry at the production lab on the second shift for the majority of his 35 years at Kaleida. He has played an instrumental part in a number of technology and automation changes over the years.
Andy has always played a key role with instrument maintenance and supply replenishment. His co-workers can always count on him to have instruments prepped and ready for a high volume of patient samples to be tested. Always on time or early for his scheduled shifts, Andy is the poster-boy for how to be a dependable employee.
In retirement, Andy and his son will enjoy doing some gardening and household projects. He is also planning to take a trip in the Fall to visit his son and daughter-in-law in Australia.
Andy, it is an honor and pleasure to thank you for the 35 years of dedicated service you have provided to the patients of Kaleida Health. Best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement!
