Kaleida Health has hired Marjorie Quint-Bouzid as its new chief nurse executive, effective June 26.

Quint-Bouzid joins the system from Parkland Health & Hospital System, a Texas system with an 882-bed acute care hospital and outpatient health centers throughout Dallas County. The hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

As CNE for Kaleida, she'll have oversight for nursing across the entire $2 billion Buffalo-based system. Quint-Bouzid takes over the role from Cheryl Klass, who has been serving in a dual role as Kaleida's CNE and chief operating officer since July 2022. Klass will remain in the COO role.

Quint-Bouzid brings experience with adults and children in acute care and pediatric settings. At Parkland, which houses a level 1 trauma center and a level 3 NICU, she served as senior vice president and women and infants specialty health administrator with oversight for patient volumes including 12,500 deliveries, over 1,400 NICU discharges as well as 24,000 women's emergency visits and 260,000 outpatient visits.

During her tenure at Parkland, she was credited with implementing a staffing stabilization program to help reduce turnover, as well as developing a leadership succession plan and a nurse leader onboarding tool.

In a way, the appointment in Buffalo brings Quint-Bouzid home: She earned her bachelor's in nursing from D'Youville University before going on to Troy State University for a master's in public administration and a doctorate in public administration from Capella University in Minneapolis.
