Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC), a member campus of Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), announced the appointment of Jason Shaffer as administrator of The Pavilion. Shaffer will take the leadership position and oversee the 95-bed skilled nursing facility.
“We are pleased to welcome Jason to the Pavilion. His experience, skillset, and leadership will be a valuable asset to the Pavilion,” said David Monroe, chief administrative officer at BRMC. “The Pavilion has tackled so many obstacles this year and now we want to continue growing and exploring opportunities to make improvements to become the skilled nursing facility of choice.”
Shaffer, a Pennsylvania native, has more than 20 years of experience working in long-term care facilities. Starting as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), Shaffer filled various roles throughout his career which culminated in him becoming a licensed nursing home administrator. He was most recently the nursing home administrator for Western Reserve in Erie.
“I’m excited to take on this role and help fill any voids and improve quality and efficiency. This area is not only beautiful, but there is such a strong sense of community and pride that these team members have at BRMC,” said Shaffer. “I’m looking forward to working with everyone and helping the organization continue to grow the business plus hit many measurable metrics we have.”
Throughout 2023, The Pavilion has made significant progress in improving quality of resident life with adequate staffing, increasing the overall census, and many internal improvements, according to representatives. Initiatives around recruitment and retention of employees including wage adjustments, offering rolling admissions into CNA training courses, and offering sign-on bonuses for qualifying positions contributed to 49 new employees onboarded in 2023, officials said.
