Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, announced their August 2024 Star Award winners are Brenda Laird at BRMC and Rachel McCaslin at OGH.
Laird, a hostess in the food and nutrition department, received the August Star Award at BRMC. She has been with BRMC since 2015 and plans to retire this month.
“Brenda has been an invaluable asset to the food and nutrition department, demonstrating unwavering commitment and diligence in her role. Her work ethic is unparalleled, as she consistently goes above and beyond her responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of service and quality in our food service operations. Brenda demonstrates a positive attitude and approaches every task with enthusiasm and professionalism, simply embodies the spirit of team work and reliability,” said her nomination. “Brenda exemplifies loyalty and dedication to the hospital’s mission and values. Her passion for providing excellent service to our patients is truly commendable and serves as an inspiration to us all.”
A patient access rep since 2018, McCaslin was presented the August Star Award at OGH.
“A team member for over five years, Rachel is always going out of her way to teach and help coworkers learn. Her knowledge, demonstration of teamwork, and caring nature has made her such an asset to the patient access department. During unpleasant situations, she maintains a great attitude to ensure everyone continues to have a great experience. Rachel constantly goes above and beyond to help her co-workers, but is also a strong patient advocate,” according to her nomination. “Rachel is an effective communicator and ensures that communication between departments is efficient and comprehendible. Without Rachel, the patient access department wouldn’t be as successful as she is continuously challenging everyone to be their best.”
The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability and excellence, through co-worker or patient nominations.
Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition, the Star Award parking spot and special recognition at the Second Annual Pulse of the Community Gala happening Sept. 20 in Ellicottville, N.Y.
