Congratulations to Sandeep Mehat, respiratory therapist, who was named the Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute Employee of the Month for August 2021.
Sandeep always is available to the nurses on the floor. She has taken great accountability for the high-acuity respiratory patients. She is always updating the nurses with current oxygen levels and saturations, and keeps the patients updated with the plan for the day.
Sandeep is a respectful team player. She is always willing to respond to a call, draw an ABG, and help out the RNs and the patients in any way possible.
Sandeep went above and beyond to comfort a patient who was hospitalized with COVID-19, far away from his family. She spent the day as his respiratory therapist and comforted him through all the emotions he had been experiencing, going out of her way to spend extra time talking to him. For another patient, she went out of her way to buy him glasses after his had been lost when he was Mercy Flighted to BGMC/GVI from Olean Hospital.
Sandeep is the kind of person who doesn't look for recognition for her efforts, rather, she does it for the benefit of her patient.
