Please join me in welcoming Christie Baker, BSN, RN, CNOR, RNFA, who has been appointed nurse manager of the operating rooms at Oishei Children’s Hospital.
In this leadership role, Baker will oversee all clinical operations of the operating rooms, including staffing, training, supply and equipment needs, and policy compliance. She will also work collaboratively with surgeons, nursing leadership and staff to coordinate plans of care, enhance quality of care and patient experience, and manage all department quality projects and program development. She will be a key driver in improving operating room efficiencies and enhancing quality metrics related to EPMO.
Previously, Baker held the role of nurse manager of the operating rooms at Millard Fillmore Surgery Center. She spent eight years at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in roles including inpatient nurse manager, registered nurse first assist (RNFA) and certified nurse of the operating room. She has a vast knowledge and experience in surgical scheduling, educating and supporting staff, implementing quality initiatives and coordinating surgical patient care and multidisciplinary cases.
Baker received a BS in communications from Canisius College, AAS in nursing from Trocaire College, BS in nursing from Wester Governs University and is currently enrolled in the MBA Healthcare Management program at Western Governs University. She is a Certified PeriOperative Nurse (CNOR), Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA), certified in both Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support.
