About Visiting Nurses Association of Western New York

Established as the nation’s first home health agency, the Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York (VNA of WNY) remains the largest home care provider in Western New York. The VNA provides a wide variety of services for patients managing chronic or complex medical conditions, or who are recovering at home. 

Skilled nursing care

Licensed nurses provide a variety of nursing care including wound care, medication management, disease monitoring, injections, IV therapy and patient education in the home.

Rehabilitation therapy

Physical, occupational and speech therapy services to support recovery, restore mobility and improve daily function.

Chronic disease management

Ongoing monitoring and education to help patients manage conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, COPD and other chronic illnesses.

Medical social work and care coordination

Support with community resources, discharge planning and navigating complex medical needs.

Nutrition counseling

Personalized dietary guidance to support healing, manage chronic conditions and promote overall health.

Obstetric and maternal services

Home-based prenatal and postpartum care for mothers who need additional monitoring and support.

Palliative and supportive care

Symptom management and comfort-focused support delivered in coordination with providers and specialists.

Pediatric services

Skilled home health services for infants and children with medical needs, including newborn assessments, injections, infusion therapies, wound care and enteral and parenteral feeding needs. Pediatric services are delivered in coordination with pediatric providers.

Pharmacy, infusion therapy and drug monitoring

Medication review and monitoring to ensure prescriptions are taken safely, prevent interactions and support effective treatment at home.

Telehealth

Secure virtual visits and remote monitoring that expand access to care and support early identification of concerns.

Getting started

How do I request home care services?

Services may be requested by a provider referral, hospital discharge planner or by contacting our intake team. Referrals are taken 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Coverage varies by service and plan.

Pay your bill

In almost all cases, the skilled services provided by the VNA are reimbursed by your insurance carrier. Services may be reviewed by your carrier for medical necessity and payment will be limited to the terms of your contract. Our Patient Financial Services Department will work directly with your insurance carrier for reimbursement. It is your obligation to notify VNA of any changes in your insurance coverage. You will be responsible to pay the VNA for services as a result of non-coverage.
